So the night train was cool.... Watched the world move past our window, drank Romanian beer, and snoozed until we reached the border. Then after an hour of visits from various officials and police, we moved onwards to Chisinau.
I prefer Chisinau to Bucharest... It's parks are nicer, food better, people friendlier. Yesterday we went to a couple nice restaurants, the national orthodox cathedral, the two central parks and an incredible fresh produce market.... Live fish, piles of every kind of fruit and vegetable, flowers, pastries, branza (sour goats cheese which stinks but tastes good)...
The hostel we are in has a weird, fat, American, sex tourist living outside our door.. He's constantly on the phone to a Romanian girl he's paying to marry for £1000 and who will be here 'soon'. He's broken his ankle so lies in bed all day on the internet.
Upstairs are a group of ten uni students from Edinburgh who are working in a local orphanage, and who we are going to watch the football with tonight.
Anatol (my mate from CS) has been amazingly helpful with places to go and directions. Have just been to Cricova wine cellars (120km of underground wine tunnels)... Incredible...
heading to the countryside tomorrow...
All very exciting.
